Riverview Companies is Hiring an Operations Manager Near Irvington, NY

About Us:

Riverview Companies is the premier landscaping and snowplow company in the northeast United States. We provide full-service landscaping and snow management services to commercial and residential customers in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. We are growing rapidly through growth and acquisition; we acquired 7 companies in the last two years and now have over 140 employees. Our vision is to expand our footprint by acquiring over 20 new landscaping companies in the Northeast within the next 2 years, providing significant employment growth opportunities.

Position Overview:

We have recently acquired a business primarily serving commercial customers, HOAs, and residential homes in the Tarrytown, NY and surrounding areas. As such, we are seeking a professional, operationally focused, profit driven individual with landscaping and snow removal field operations and management experience to be our Operations Manager to oversee daily operations of that branch consisting of 10 employees.

This is a full-time position with a compensation mix of base pay, plus bonus. You will be expected to work from home as needed on your computer (provided by Riverview), at our shop locations, overseeing employees in the field as necessary, or meeting with customers. This role will report directly to the local Branch Manager.

You will be expected to operate within Riverview’s excellence standards, particularly in safety, employee leadership, service quality, and technology.

For example, with growth and acquisition, the Branch Manager role, as well as Regional positions, will be available to you, should you perform.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee the branch operations to provide the highest quality of service to our customers while achieving gross profit and customer retention targets.
  • Provide daily work schedules to field staff and provide instruction to ensure Crew Leaders and crew are prepared to complete the jobs efficiently and safely.
  • Visit job sites on a regular basis to ensure all work is completed in adherence to safety policies, operational standards, and contract specifications while ensuring complete customer satisfaction. Conduct consistent safety training and perform safety inspections on job sites.
  • Utilize Riverview computer systems (primarily Aspire) to manage crew scheduling, purchasing, and crew time reporting to ensure quality, efficiency, and profitability targets per job.
  • Daily review of crew's time entries, have weekly payroll completed by Monday morning for Branch Manager to give final approval.
  • Supervise employees, keep attendance records, enforce proper uniform and safety equipment use, and approve timecards through Aspire.
  • Train, coach, mentor, and develop staff to reach potential and established goals for the individual and division. Identify and develop Crew Leaders.
  • Maintain sufficient staff to meet upcoming schedules. Forecast staff, equipment and material needs to complete future jobs.
  • Order materials, equipment and supplies as needed within purchasing limits. All overhead purchases to be approved by Branch Manager.
  • Continually assess operational procedures and make recommendations to enhance value, improve efficiency and sharing those insights to further the goals of the company.
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment on a regular basis to ensure legal compliance, maintenance needs, and safety issues. Maintain maintenance records for vehicles and equipment.
  • Investigate any accident or safety violation, prepare appropriate reports, and act to correct and prevent future occurrences. Define and implement solutions to reoccurring accidents or most common hazards.
  • Monitors costs weekly and immediately report any jobs deviating from budgets of time, schedule, cost or any other factor so appropriate adjustments can be made to maximize end result.
  • Ensure that facilities and equipment are clean projecting a positive image of the Company.
  • Promote and exhibit Company culture and values.
  • Ensure that urgent situations are addressed and executed promptly.
  • Regularly communicate timelines of services to Branch Manager
  • Assist Branch Manager in estimating maintenance and enhancement services.
  • Off-season snow responsibilities and management of snow operations.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3 years of landscaping management experience
  • Proven history of installing hardscaping and landscaping projects according to customer needs while achieving profitability targets
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proficient in technology (MS Office and landscaping costing/estimating packages)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in horticulture or other related field or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of hardscaping and landscaping designing and quoting
  • Ability to read complex customer Request-for-Proposals as well as commercial contracts to provide accurate bids
  • Skilled in management and leadership
  • Understanding of Profit and Loss statements
